Rectification of a Slanted Box-Girder Bridge Caused by Unbalanced Soil Load

چکیده

Aims: Rectification of a slanted continuous concrete box-girder bridge is presented in this paper. Background: Several piers due to uneven ground settlement, inducing excessive width some expansion joints and oversize sliding displacement bearings. The settlement occured the unbalanced soil load on ground. Methods: In project, reverse loading was first applied produce opposite-direction deformation bending piles, thereby rectifying rigidly connected piles. procedure accelerated by constructing several stress release holes opposite side loading. Results: To stabilize foundation prevent landsides riverbank, combimationn jet grouting piles deep mixed apliied reinforce soil, providing lateral restraint as well. Finally, hydraulic power system used reset piers, girders, joints. A similar additional equipment were replace damaged Conclusion: recommended rectification techniques are suitable for bridges with geotechnical conditions structure types replacing

Load Test and Model Calibration of a Horizontally Curved Steel Box-Girder Bridge

In this paper, full scale load test of a horizontally curved steel box-girder bridge is carried out in order to detect structural defects, which reportedly result in unwanted vibrations in nearby buildings. The bridge is tested under the passage of six heavy vehicles at different speeds, so as to determine its static and dynamic responses. A total number of one hundred and two (102) sensors are...

Drying and Cracking Effects in Box-girder Bridge Segment

This paper deals with the effect of drying as a moisture diffusion process in a segment of a typical box-girder bridge. Pore relative humidity distributions throughout the cross sections of the plates of the girder are calculated from the diffusion equation, taking its nonlinearity and aging into account. The effect of creep with aging on the stresses produced by drying shrinkage is taken into ...

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF NON-PRISMATIC REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGE: MINIMIZATION OF THE COST AND CO2 EMISSION

This paper presents a computational framework for optimal design of non-prismatic reinforced concrete box girder bridges. The variables include the geometry of the cross section, tapered length, concrete strength and reinforcement of box girders and slabs. These are obtained by the enhanced colliding bodies optimization algorithm to optimizing the cost and again CO2 emission. Loading and design...

Explanation of Excessive Long-Time Deflections of Collapsed Record-Span Box Girder Bridge in Palau

Explanation of the excessive deflections of the Koror-Babeldaob (KB) Bridge in Palau is presented. This bridge was built in 1977 by the cantilever method and collapsed 3 months after remedial prestressing in 1996. It was a segmental prestressed concrete girder having the worldrecord span of 241 m (790 ft.) and maximum girder depth of 14.17 m (46.5 ft). The final mid-span deflection was in desig...
